Moralizing on politics.
It's amazing to watch the Democrats trying desperately not to seat Roland Burris in the United States Senate. They say he's "tainted" by his association with Governor Blagojevich, who has not been indicted and who has not been impeached ... yet.
I guess Barack Obama wasn't tainted by Jeremiah Wright and his anti-American tirades. I guess Obama wasn't tainted by beginning his campaign in the living room of an unrepentant terrorist, William Ayers. I'm not sure why Democrats are moralizing about this. What do they have to gain by this?
It's not often that I'll take up for a Democrat, but Burris was nominated legally, and there's no evidence that he tried to buy the seat that Gov. Blagojevich was trying to sell. The Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White should go ahead and certify the appointment, and the Democratic leadership of the Senate should swallow their guts and allow Burris to be sworn in.
Burris gets props for standing up for the truth in this area.
