"AsSALTed" by government.

"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." - George Washington

I was just reading a news report of New York Mayor Bloomberg's Salt Attack, and I'm just sick of government second-guessing the nutritional needs of people.

While it is true that salt aggravates high blood pressure if you already have it, it has ZERO EFFECT if your blood pressure is normal. I have this information directly from a physcician I saw as a younger person. My body doesn't assimilate salt as well as a normal person's, so I tend to eat a lot more than most people ever would.

And my blood pressure is normal.

Thing is, I like salt. Ask anyone who knows me. The idea that New York City health czar Dr. Thomas Frieden went as far as to say high blood pressure is "the greatest public-health threat facing the city" -- well, that's just a ludicrous, asinine idea.

The story says there will be no new regulations ... yet. Stay vigilant out there. You may risk arrest for eating salt without a license.

Name one food you need a license to consume. Just one.

Oh wait. That would be ludicrous and asinine.

Hyperbolic language to make a point about something absurd that is actually being proposed in the story.

Always ready to read comments, but I'd love for people to have the courage of their convictions to sign their name so I know who I'm conversing with.

You always cite "no guts" or "lack of courage" to those of us who don't sign our names.

In the spirit of fairness, can I cite "failure of imagination" for you to not be able to imagine any other reason someone might not sign his/her name?
