This evening I had the pleasure of watching Gene Anderson act as master of ceremonies for Another Night of Vaudeville in Bay City. The show featured himself, Bob Bloenk, The Great Kaplan, John Hill, Andy Rogers and La Voz. What a fantastic night out!

I was reminded of something my dad said the first time he watched my favorite guitar player Doyle Dykes perform. He walked up to Doyle after the concert and said, "Hey, you make a guy wanna quit!" It's very apparent to me that my showmanship skills are woefully lacking. Gene has told me that there's no reason I couldn't hold an audience of hundreds of people with my magic skills, but I have to say that I have a long way to go.

Nevertheless, I'm not going to quit. I am going to get better, any way I can think of. My sincere hope is that Gene will consent to become a mentor for me in the next year. I desperately need some professional help in order to craft a much better act. I'm not confident in my own ability to be producer, writer, and director besides "acting" in my own magic show.

A new year brings new possibilties, so we'll see what happens. For now, I want to publicly give props to my two buddies in IBM Ring 22. Great show, Bob and Gene! I can't wait until next year's.
