The Triumph of Illusion
Sequestering myself from the news media on Election Day was one of the best things I could have done. If my beloved country had to change -- and we did change for the worse -- at least I got a good sleep before I had to confront it.
The minor "pros" in this election -- having elected America's first Black President -- are vastly outweighed by the "cons." We have elected a secret Socialist, a person who will multiply the shackles on individual liberty while doing nothing to stop the acceptance of immoral lifestyles. This combined with the expanded slaughter of innocent boys and girls before birth -- remember, Obama promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act upon taking office, removing virtually all state and local regulation of the practice -- means that America is no longer what it once was.
Well, at least Hamas is happy. At least Hugo Chavez is happy. When evil people throughout the world are happy about the outcome of an American election -- well, at least Jesus is coming soon.
Sarah Palin didn't hurt McCain's campaign. She said so many of the things that I thought, I wish she could have said more. I believe that her handlers in the campaign held her back from some things she may have wanted to say in the mistaken belief that it would cost them votes. I actually voted FOR Sarah Palin, WITH John McCain, AGAINST Barack Obama.
White guilt was a big factor in Obama's win. Jesse Jackson said as much when he told a reporter, "For blacks who voted for Obama, this is reconciliation, for whites, it is redemption." Obama got some 95% of the black vote, while almost 50% of whites voted for him. I would also bet that 95% of the white people who voted for John McCain did NOT do so simply because he was white. Which side is more racist?
