You guys gotta see this one.
This evening I saw The Illusionist movie with a magician friend, and it was pretty close to a terrific time. If it didn't have that one lusty sex scene in it it would be a perfect film.
Still and all, I love a good intrigue, and this movie fills the bill. It will keep you guessing until the very last scene, and even if you guess right as I did, it is still really well done.
The magic is also excellent in the film; it's very reminiscent of the kind of magic that was performed a hundred years ago. That was a different time, when magicians charmed their audiences instead of only trying to destroy them. Edward Norton's character even performs an effect very similar to something Robert Houdin used to do, and it's beautiful.
Go see The Illusionist if you can, whether you're fully into magic or not. It's a good story, and makes for a great date with a friend or other someone special.
